DC01 (material number 1.0330) is a commercial-grade cold-rolled low-carbon steel defined by EN 10130, designed for cold forming and general sheet metal fabrication. It is produced from low-carbon hot-rolled strip by cold rolling and annealing, which gives it a smooth surface, consistent mechanical properties and good formability at a cost-effective price. This article explains its specification, grade equivalents and fabrication behaviour.

1. Specification (EN 10130)
| DC01 (1.0330) per EN 10130 | ||
| C 0.12; Mn 0.60; P 0.045; S 0.045 | N <= 0.009 and hardness <= 65 HRB are typical mill values, not mandatory EN 10130 requirements for DC01 | |
| 140–280 MPa | Per EN 10130 | |
| 270–410 MPa | Per EN 10130 | |
| Elongation (A80) | >= 28% | Per EN 10130 |
| 0.10–6.0 mm (standard 0.5–3.0 mm) | ||
| 600–1500 mm (custom 500–2000 mm) | ||
| 3–20 t | Light coils 3–9 t; heavy coils 10–20 t | |
| Smooth, skin-pass, oiled, unoiled, chromated |
Thickness tolerance figures such as ±0.02 mm are typical mill capability and must be confirmed against the order and the mill certificate.
2. International Equivalents
The following grades are commonly treated as close equivalents of DC01. They are approximate equivalents with similar but not identical chemistry and mechanical limits - verify against the governing standard of each region before substituting:
- - JIS G 3141 (Japan);
- ST12 - former DIN 1623 (Germany);
- CS Type B - ASTM A1008 (USA);
- SPCC - GB/T 5213 / GB/T 708 family designations used in China.
3. Fabrication Behaviour
Bending and stamping: the low carbon content keeps the steel ductile; DC01 is suited to bending, simple drawing, blanking and roll forming where the deformation is not extreme.
Welding: low carbon content gives good weldability for standard MIG/TIG and resistance welding practice.
Surface preparation: a smooth, oiled surface provides a clean base for degreasing, phosphating and painting after fabrication; chromated finishes offer temporary corrosion protection in humid storage.
4. Application Guidance
DC01 is widely used for enclosures, cabinets, brackets, panels, and general machine and construction parts. Typical fabrication sectors include automotive interior and underbody parts, home appliances (refrigerator panels, washing-machine drums), construction sheet metal and light machinery. The grade is not intended for heavy deep drawing - for severe draws, specify a higher EN 10130 grade such as DC03–DC06.
5. Food-Contact Clarification
Bare DC01 carbon steel is not a food-contact material. Food and beverage containers such as cans are made from steel that carries a compliant coating - typically electrolytic tinplate or chromium-coated steel - and must meet the food-contact regulations of the destination market. If a food-contact application is planned, specify the appropriate coated product and verify compliance with the applicable regulation with the supplier before ordering.
6. Ordering and Sourcing Notes
MOQ as stated by the supplier: 1 t; volume discounts generally apply from 10 t.
Common loading ports: Qingdao / Shanghai (FOB terms).
Packaging: seaworthy (waterproof paper, steel strapping, pallets).
7. Price Note
The original page (published 18 Mar 2026) quoted a wholesale price of USD 780–920 per tonne, EXW China (thinner coils USD 850–920/t; thicker coils USD 780–850/t). Steel prices fluctuate with raw-material and energy costs; treat this range as a point-in-time reference only and confirm the current quotation with the supplier.
